Updates to Volume One — 1889

1889: Denver surgeon William W. Grant, MD, spent the year studying surgery in European hospitals, which notably included several months with Dr. Joseph Lister at King's College, London.

1889: Dr. Edward Bricourt Trovillion — a 28-year-old native of Golconda, Illinois, who had received his MD in 1886 from Rush Medical College in Chicago — moved to Gold Hill in the foothills of Boulder County, where he took over the practice of his friend from medical school, O.R. Wells, MD.

Prior to moving to Colorado, Dr. Trovillion had been practicing in Rosebud, Illinois. Dr. Edward Trovillion also treated patients in Jamestown, Salina, and the rest of Boulder County. He was later vice president of the Boulder County Medical Society. Dr. Edward Trovillion died at University Hospital in Boulder on December 23, 1916.
